About Me

Shane DiGiovanna has overcome incredible odds and debilitating disabilities to become a distinguished motivational speaker. Learn more about how ShaneTalks can help you!

My story

I was born on June 4th, 1998 with an extremely rare genetic skin condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa, which causes fragile skin that results in large open wounds that require hours of painful bandaging each day. I am also deaf and have cochlear implants. My passion to explore and contribute to the world has allowed me to endure these debilitating conditions that have required dozens of surgeries. Despite all odds, I am now in college at Rice University striving to help people and design the world of tomorrow.

As one of the few people with my condition to make it to college, I am passionate about making the world more accessible for people with disabilities. I have worked tirelessly on projects such as the Patient Advisory Council at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. I have also, as a member of the club Design For America at Rice University, worked on making Rice’s campus more accessible and on a prosthetic that allows people without fingers to hold a pencil and write. Last but not least, I have started ShaneTalks, a motivational speaking business. For more information about Shane DiGiovanna and his latest achievements, please visit ShaneDigiovanna.com

About ShaneTalks

I founded ShaneTalks, a motivational speaking company, so that I could encourage people to embrace diversity and learn how understanding and appreciating people’s differences can create a stronger community that can turn adversity into opportunity. Using my experience in turning multiple disabilities into strengths, I can inspire people and show them how to overcome any obstacle through the power of kindness, hard work, a positive attitude, and diversity.

In today’s increasingly complex and diverse world, it’s more important than ever for your team, whether its workers, students, or parishioners, to better understand each other and celebrate diversity.

I bring a decade of public speaking experience and a lifetime of overcoming insurmountable obstacles to helping you and your team. I would love to have the chance to work with you to help unlock the potential of your team’s diversity. I founded ShaneTalks to help people like you while also helping me pay for my education and medical bills.
